New Perodua Myvi

Perodua’s new MD Aminar Rashid Salleh unveiled to Utusan Malaysia that we can expect a new Perodua Myvi somewhere around April 2011, with a Myvi SE to be launched a couple of months later around June 2011. He also revealed that a new 1.5 liter variant of the Myvi is in the works. This makes sense since they are already making the transverse-install front wheel drive 1.5 liter 3SZ-VE engine for the Alza, why not put it in the Myvi?

Apparently the new Myvi will have a new look. It’s actually about time for the Myvi to be refreshed, so Perodua is pretty much on schedule for a typical 5 year lifecycle with a facelift in the middle. The Myvi was launched in May 2005 and after 5 years, time for a replacement in the first half of 2011. If you remember, in mid-February we saw the Myvi’s Japanese cousin refreshed with a new look. Frankly, I don’t expect the Myvi to look 100% like that model as with each new rebadge product, Perodua has been moving away further and further from the JDM model’s exterior and interior.

I feel Toyota/Daihatsu has been slowly moving their JDM models to target specific niche markets with very tailor-made products. They have so many little cars based on the same platform over there in Japan, and from the marketing material of the new Passo/Boon, it’s quite obvious that the car is now targeted towards young ladies. In Malaysia, the Myvi is a unisex mass market car, so I’m expecting both exterior and interior styling to differ significantly in the details, while generally keeping the same shape.

Perodua Myvi expert car review

Consumers looking for small, cheap cars these days have many choices. But a job is not to register the public radar, Perodua.

Although it is the difference between the selling models Cheapest United Kingdom, the form of £ 4792 Kelisa, the Malaysian brand does not have an effect here. Can the new myvi better to do?

This is essentially a rebadged Daihatsu Sirion, and comes with an 86bhp 1.3-liter gasoline engine. And 7799 pounds, it also represents a savings of more than 300 pounds over its sister car.

Unlike a revised bonnet and more details Perodua badge is identical to the myvi Daihastu. And no bad thing. It is similar in size to the Nissan Micra, but looks bigger because the MPV-style roof height. The short nose is ideal when squeezed into small spaces, with a nearly vertical screen to return easier.

It feels very grown into. Not only practical cabin, with a range of cubbies and cup holders, but it looks good. The center console is clearly defined; the compass instrument dials with red-back.

Space

But while we like the contrasting silver and black interior finish, some plastics are not the quality of European rivals. What can not be criticized is the amount of space behind the myvi accommodates three rear passengers in reasonable comfort.

Tailgate opens to reveal a decent luggage. The seat is in a 225-liter capacity, but the 60/40 split folding rear seat flat and get a 630-gallon load bay.

The road, the myvi owner of all things never ask for, and nothing more. Enter the corner too fast and there are plenty of body rolls, while the main light is short on feedback. But it is highway speed, the soft ride and absorbs bumps.

In most driving conditions, performance is acceptable, with 0-60mph in 11.3 seconds and a top speed of 106 mph. But the engine gets rude and high speeds. The five-speed manual gear ¬ box also rather vague, although it is better for the £ 700 optional automatic. Most consumers will not forgive myvi many of his mistakes, if they consider nearly 50mpg combined economy.

Even better news is saving money Perodua £ 1000 cash back offer until late June. It is not a class leader, but as a simple transport from A to B, the myvi is not bad!
Rival: Honda Jazz
The myvi was cheap and get super mini, but if you have money, at £ 9000 Jazz are worth. It is good to drive, reliable, brilliantly made and incredibly flexible.

Myvi SE

When Perodua launched the Myvi back in May 2005, the car flew off the shelves at a rate which shocked even their own bosses. Now, four years on, after over 354,000 units sold, the Myvi still shows no signs of slowing down, with the model recording its highest ever sales figure in July 2009.

Perodua MD, Datuk Syed Abdull Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar was fond of noting that the Myvi, unlike their other models, is a car that sells itself. Its grip on the Malaysian market is almost iron-clad.
Every variant of the Myvi sells, and sells well, from the base 1.0, all the way to the dressed-up SE models. Though we find the SE overpriced, the rest of the range ticks all the right boxes for the average Malaysian buyer - price, space, practicality, FC, resale, and reliability.

Despite its runaway success, Perodua is not resting on its laurels, even as far as the Myvi is concerned. Facelifted only last year, Perodua is now selling 5,000 units of new limited edition of the Myvi, which it calls the Exclusive Edition.

Distinguishing the new Myvi Exclusive Edition from the standard Myvis are 14" alloy rims (taken from the pre-facelift SE), side skirts, and chromed door handles. It will come in three colour options - Ebony Black, Ivory White, and Medallion Grey.
Inside, you get a 2-DIN MP3/WMA compatible audio system with CD-Player and USB connectivity. A Bluetooth hands-free function is also integrated as standard. The inner door handles are also finished in chrome, with the seats, doors, and steering wheel trimmed in leather.

Through the official press release from Perodua, Syed Hafiz was quoted as saying, "I wish to thank all Malaysians for making the Myvi the best selling model for nearly five years and as an added bonus to Myvi enthusiasts, we present to you this limited Myvi Exclusive Edition for those who are looking for style and exclusivity."

In terms of pricing, the automatic transmission only Myvi Exclusive Edition slots between the Myvi EZi and Myvi SE. In the Peninsula, you can drive one off the showroom floor for RM51,500.00 (solid) or RM51,500 (metallic).
